Australia to play South Korea in soccer friendly at Busan

May 3, 2019 GMT

SYDNEY (AP) — Australia will prepare for the start of its 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with a soccer friendly against South Korea in Busan on June 7.

The South Korea match will be the first for coach Graham Arnold’s team since January’s Asian Cup where the defending champions lost in the quarterfinals to United Arab Emirates.

Australia will find out who it plays in the first phase of Asian qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in July. Preliminary matches are scheduled to be played in September, October and November.

Football Federation Australia said Friday that Arnold would name his team for the South Korea match later this month.
